Schemes of Work

A scheme of work focuses on one topic/theme (see attachment below) and includes four whole days input with a different subject focus each day to be run over four weeks (ideally, but not necessarily, consecutively). For each day we would deliver a one hour session to 4 classes.

All of these themes/topics predominantly focus on three core subject areas (English, Maths and Science) but also provide opportunities for cross curricular work.

We also have a 4-day scheme of work focused on Philosophy for Children (P4C) which is aimed at:

  • promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development
  • developing pupils’ speaking and listening and critical thinking skills
  • supporting teachers in using a range of strategies including questioning and discussion techniques
  • improving pupils’ behaviour towards, and respect for, other young people and adults, including freedom from prejudice-based bullying.
